A patient presented with an irreducible open dorsal dislocation of the distal interphalangeal joint of the index finger. The volar plate was found to be interposed within the joint, and the FDP tendon was wrapped around the radial condyle of the middle phalanx. The joint was reduced and stabilized with a longitudinal Kirschner -wire, resulting in a good functional outcome for the patient.
